One Last Time

One Last Ride
By Jimmy Rankin

Shakey’s at the wheel tonight
Dodging all the ghosts out on the road
Buster’s riding shotgun
Radio is playing soft and low

Staring down the dashboard lights
The feeling’s lost he said I’m not myself tonight
Something’s gotta give is all I know

Takin’ one last ride down memory lane
Goin’ side by side as the conversation wanes
Turns to silence

Buster said it’s your turn now
Had my time doesn’t matter to me anyhow
Thunder clapped along the way to lightning streets outside wet with rain
So here’s to me and here’s to you
All the things we’ll never do but only talk about
Anyway you say it’s all the same

Takin’ one last ride down memory lane
Goin’ side by side as the conversation wanes
Turns to silence

Shakey’s at the wheel tonight
The red and blue of the flashing lights have got him nervous
Buster’s in the back seat
Buster’s in the back seat

Takin’ one last ride down memory lane
Goin’ side by side as the conversation wanes
Turns to silence
Return to silence
